The seafarer certificate for lifeboats shall be valid for five years. To be renewed, by the expiry date of the certificate, it shall be demonstrated that it has maintained the required level of training by the frequency of a refresher training course to update the following competencies:
take control of the rescue craft or the rescue boat during and after training;
operate on the engine of a lifeboat;
managing persons and the survival craft after the abandonment of the ship;
use of location devices, including radio communication equipment and emergency pyrotechnic signals;
application of first aid to survivors.
The expiration date of the certificate so renewed shall begin on the date of completion of the refresher course.
The following requirements are required to update the seafarer certificate for lifeboats:
- be at least 18 years old;
- belong to seafarers’ staff
- personnel enrolled in seafarers’ freshmen with a valid seaman’s book;
- personnel without a seaman’s book embarking with a valid and not expired passport (procurement ex art. 17, law n. 856/1986).
hold the valid Survival and Rescue course training certificate in accordance with Table A-VI/1-1 of the STCW Code;
have completed at least six months of navigation on units subject to the scope of the STCW Convention or have performed the equivalent functions referred to in Ministerial Decree 1° March 2016;
hold the valid MAMS certificate;

The courses are weekly organized except the second, third week of August and the Christmas holiday season. In addition, courses are organized on request through private or corporate bookings.
